BOYCOTT ESKENDERELLA!

Eskenderella was one of the bands chosen to be included in Kawalis Masr Vol.1 by Backstage Productions, for which Ganzeer commissioned artist Hala El-Sharouny to produce an art piece representing the band to go in the visual booklet accompanying the CD. They loved it so much that they asked Ahmed Selim of Backstage Productions if they can use it for all their promotional posters, flyers, billboards, etc which prompted Backstage Productions to agree and give them the artwork without Ganzeer’s permission. Since then, Eskenderella has been using the artwork extensively without proper credit placement for the artist: Hala El-Sharouny, or the studio that hired her: Ganzeer.

I decided to send Shady Moones Mohamed, one of the band members, a message not asking for payment for usage of the artwork, but for mere proper credit placement.

Dear Shady,

I am Mohammed Fahmy of Ganzeer.com, the studio responsible for comissioning the Eskenderella artwork you guys have been using time and time again. I realise that it was provided to you by Kawalis Masr, but they didn't get our permission to give it to you. The purpose of the artwork was to be used for the Kawalis Masr booklet, but after that unehtical incident it has been taken by you guys and used time and time again without appropriate credit for the creators of the artwork. I have talked to Ahmed Selim of Kawalis Masr about this and he said he'd talk to you guys about it, but since the artwork has still been inappropriatly used time and time again. It is unacceptable for the artwork to be used without proper credit being given to the artist: Hala El-Sharouny and the studio that commissioned her: Ganzeer.com
