BOYCOTT UNILEVER! During the end of the summer of 2005, Ganzeer was commissioned by the Egyptian arm of Unilever Mideast to design a retail booth for it to be installed in major supermarkets to further promote and boost the sales of its products. Ganzeer presented two design concepts developed by Mohammed A. Fahmy and Fadi El-Sharkawy, and from among several other designs presented to Unilever by other firms, the board of directors picked out one of Ganzeer’s takes. Ahmad Anis, merchandising director at Unilever and our contact person at the time, then requested working drawings of our design so they can have it manufactured. Now although Ganzeer’s design was picked out from the lot, and working drawings were later requested, and the design was actually manufactured and reported to have been set up at the massive Royal House supermarket in the Roxy district of Heliopolis, Cairo, Ahmad Anis has refused to pay Ganzeer any of its design fees. Such malpractice against designers is unacceptable, and we feel it is our duty to inform the design community of such malpractice taken against designers by corporate entities. We ask you to boycott Unilever products and better spend your money on someone who actually deserves it. . |
