Brief: CORE is a furniture/interior design installation curated by the Egyptian Designers Forum for Egypt’s prestigious FURNEX exhibit. Aside from the identity for the event, Ganzeer was also commissioned to create posters to advertise the event and posters to promote the seminars taking place as part of the event. Ganzeer was also commissioned to modify some furniture pieces being exhibited within the installation.

For CORE’s central poster, most of the emphasis was given to the strong logo developed for the event. The design was also framed in an oriental Egyptian motif to tie the event’s relevance to the Egyptian culture and market. For the poster advertising the seminars, focus was given to the prominent names of the speakers and their pictures.

For the bags, we bought a thousand-piece batch of regular standard bags and modified them by having tailors sew in a structure for us to place the event’s brochure and promotional pencil. A vivid hot pink sticker depicting the event logo was printed and stuck onto the bag, and voila! Our reasoning behind purchasing an existing standard bag and then modifying it to spazz it up was that that was the concept behind the furniture being exhibited within the installation, all furniture pieces modified by the Egyptian Designers Forum specifically for the installation.

Which brings us to the two furniture pieces Ganzeer was commissioned to modify: one black chair and one white table, both of which were directly illustrated on using permanent markers.
