Title: CORE murals Brief: CORE is a furniture/interior design installation curated by the Egyptian Designers Forum for Egypt’s prestigious FURNEX exhibit. The name CORE refers to the core of Egyptian furniture design creativity, as the purpose of the installation is to mainly highlight traces of superior Egyptian furniture design in terms of creativity and quality. The core concept was also very evident in the architectural plan the Egyptian Designers Forum had devised for the designated hall for the event. The entrance is a dark narrow corridor that contrasts with the monolithic size of the high-ceiling hall, which is also very dimmed and covered in pure black, all except for the cubic structure at the center of the hall with interiors designed in pure white and bright light, featuring the crème de la crème of the exhibit, suggesting a bright and shiny future at the core of Egyptian furniture design. The exteriors of the central cube, which act as a transition until inside the white Core, is covered in a collage of black & white photographs of Egyptian society at different stages in history. A strong statement runs across the collage (see Creative Writing), first in English, with the Arabic translation running across the inside of the cube. See Also: |
